Well, that thing can't be good news. Everyone, meet The Piper

Page Rescheduling and other Issues

Because I am nearly finished with Sorcerer’s Apprentice, I had originally planned to use last weekend to finish the book and postpone Midnight Menagerie until Friday instead. That was at least, the initial plan. However, the other thing that happened this weekend was that my tablet failed. Now, you have to understand, that for an artist who works digitally, your tablet breaking is tantamount to running out of every piece of paper, pencil and crayon in your house all at the same time. I’m currently working on getting it fixed, but it’s going to take a day or so before the tablet company gets back to me. I would love to get a new page of Midnight Menagerie up this week, but right now I’m sort of up a creek without my paddle, and no idea when I’m getting it back. Please be patient. As soon as the tablet is working again, the page will go up. Whether that’ll actually be Friday or not is still TBD

Twas the Midnight Before Christmas

Happy Holidays folks! I know a lot of you are scrambling to do your last minute Christmassy stuff, or have to work retail and are right in the thick of the total warfare at the shopping malls. I also know a lot of you just finished up your final exams and are looking to decompress. Whatever it is you’re doing this week, I hope you enjoy your time off and enjoy this new page of Midnight Menagerie. Happy Holidays!

Two-fer Week

Because I’ve been so absorbed with Sorcerer’s Apprentice I’ve been sorta neglecting my cute lil creatures of the night. To make up to all you ghouls who so loyally and painfully follow me, this week I’m posting 2 pages instead of 1. I would have had today’s page up yesterday, but alas, my internet is being all sorts of hinky again. The next page will be ready for Thursday, so look out for it. Love you guys and thanks for your patience <3 I know how aggravating it can be for a page-by-page webcomic can be if it misses updates.

1st Anniversary and Delays

This Wednesday marks the first anniversary of Midnight Menagerie. Oh man, how time flies, I didn’t even realize it’s already been that long. I know I’ve missed updates last week, and there will be no page update this week either. I’m very, very close to finishing the next volume of my other series, Sorcerer’s Apprentice, so I’ve decided my time will be better spent just getting that finally out of the way and making up the missing pages at a later date. So you’ll get the pages that were missing last week and this week and get them next week.

But fear not! You won’t totally be devoid of Shawn and Romero goodness, you will get a special anniversary picture on Wednesday, December 11th, to mark the 1st anniversary of the series.

And to the readers who’ve been giving this series a chance, thanks and I hope you’ve been enjoying the ride.

Sorry Sorry Sorry

Sorry Sorry Sorry. Sorry Sorry Sorry.

Okay, I don’t have this week’s page ready, thus doing exactly the opposite of what I said I’d do, as well as what I wanted to do. I got really fed up with working over the weekend, so I took a break. It was either do that or really have a huge nervous breakdown. After working for nearly two months straight of doing nothing but drawing and seriously nothing else including cleaning my house I had to take a break. Rest was essential. Weekends, unfortunately are when I work on Midnight Menagerie…you can see where I’m going with this. Instead, I will try to get the page up this Wednesday afternoon instead. Good news is Sorcerer’s Apprentice v.2, the cause of my current stress is very close to being finished now. I just need to draw the last chapter and ink the last two chapters and within the next two weeks the books will be totally done. I am trying to cram in other projects as work to not fall too badly behind, but plans don’t always go how you want them. Thanks for everyone’s patience!

And we’re back.

Like I said last week, I had a cold that prevented me from working. This weekend didn’t have that same issue (though I did have an art tantrum or two). Also like I warned last week, this page is really cliff hanger-y. I’ll try my darndest not to have next week’s page late for the sake of everyone’s sanity.

No page this week

Last Friday I caught a cold after going to the dentist so I didn’t do anything all weekend except try very hard not to die (that’s certainly what it felt like even if I was in no real danger). So unfortunately that means there isn’t a page ready for today. And also because I have my hands so full with Sorcerer’s Apprentice v.2 I won’t have any time this week to work on it either. So the page that was supposed to go up this week will just get bumped to next week. I’m sorry for all of you waiting with baited breath to see what happens to Shawn, but life just gets in the way sometimes, you know? Good news is the missing week is happening this week instead of next week. The upcoming page will be especially cliff hanger-y.

I’m much better now, thanks for asking, so until next week my darling little deviants!

The tension is mounting

I’m really pleased with the response the series is beginning to get. I know I haven’t been doing it for too long yet, but it’s always nice when people leave comments begging to know what happens next. That’s why I’m trying extra hard to get pages on deadline and posted on time so I don’t make you guys suffer more than you have to.

Horror and Fear

So far Midnight Menagerie has been all about atmosphere and lulling you into a false sense of security. The pages set during the day are bright and colorful, there is a lot of humor and Shawn is an adorable ball of ginger goofiness. But that’s the point. That being said, Midnight Menagerie *is* a horror series. There are going to be some scary, violent, surreal and crazy things happening. Shawn will continue to be an adorable ball of ginger goofiness, but his life will be threatened by by all sorts of things. I put a trigger warning this week for needle phobias, but in the future be aware some things I draw/write may go into all sorts of things that people find scary and disturbing. That’s the point, too. I won’t go too far since this is a PG-13 story, but I thought it would be nice to remind people what it is they’re actually reading.

Everyone’s waiting for the next surprise!

Yay! This week is Halloween. Last Saturday I went to Halloween Comicfest at Hero Headquarters and left a bunch of cards linking to the site, so if you are one of the folks that was at the store, welcome! I hope you grow to like my little series about things that go bump in the night and the ginger kid who always seems to run into them, as well as my sarcastic and snide comments.

Halloween I have no plans as of yet though I might do a movie night. I’d have loved to have done trick or treating, but alas, I have learned I’m allergic to like 99% of commercial candy. But for those without allergies, go and gorge yourself for me, okay?
