Just a reminder that my contest is still going on and the deadline is September 1st.

With my new job working on comics has required going around and changing my schedule. I used to get all my updates done on Monday, now I’m switching the work day to Tuesday. This doesn’t affect you either way since the pages are always done a week ahead of time. But is you follow my Facebook updates, I don’t want people to think I’m not working.

Happy July 4th to all my American readers and happy belated Canada Day to my pals to the north. And to everyone else, happy Monday. Even though today is technically a holiday, I still have to get my pages done. Today’s page marks the end of chapter 15 and we begin chapter 16 on Wednesday. Chapter 15 was kind of a downer, so we’ll be having loads of fun with chapter 16. I really enjoyed writing it once I actually sat down and worked on it (I had such writer’s block with this script…)

How life affects art

Vote on Top Web Comics to get an Alice chibi.

More specifically, how life affects one’s ability to do art. It’s been interesting these past couple of weeks to getting the comic up and done on time. I’ve just gotten a new job and while it’s part time, I keep worrying that it will interfere with my real goal of getting my comics professionally published. I know it’s pretty silly on my part since I’ve had way more to do (including massive homework projects) and still get everything done on time. Oh well, guess I’m just a worrywort. Good news is with a second income I’ll be able to put more work and money into promoting and publishing the comic, including going to conventions. As soon as I start having dates I’ll post here as well as on Inque Blott Studios

This week’s pages start winding down to the end of the chapter. Not exactly a happy situation, but not everything is going to get a happy ending.

If you vote on Top Web Comics you’ll get an Alice Chibi

After hearing back from people I think I have enough interest to do a contest and the theme is:

Couples

With a fan fiction or fan art show me your favorite Sorcerer’s Apprentice couple. It doesn’t have to be canon or hetero, just what couple you like best.

Rules:

*Create a Fan Fiction or Fan Art featuring 2 characters who are your favorite couple from Sorcerer’s Apprentice

*The work must be totally original. No edits of my drawings and stolen art will not be accepted but will be reported to the original artist

*Non-hetero entries are allowed, but please keep your entries PG-13 maximum. Remember, this site is supposed to be kid-friendly.

*You may enter up to two pieces: one fan art and one fan fiction

Prizes:

*1st prize: A full-color, full rendered custom commission with background and up to two characters ($62 value)

*2nd prize: A cel shaded color custom commission with 0ne character and no background ($25 value)

*3rd prize: An inked custom commission with up to two characters, no background ($11 value)

Right now the prizes are for the best fan fiction or fan art, but if I get enough entries I’ll split it into two divisions with 2, meaning there will be a total of 6 prizes

Judging:

I will be judging the entries myself, and will base my decision based off of creativity, neatness and charm. You don’t have to be some mega-talented artist or writer to have a shot at winning, but entries done on notebook paper or with terrible grammar and spelling probably won’t sit too well with me.

Send me an image (.jpg, .png, .gif) or text file (.rtf, .doc, .txt)  or include a link to your entry to webmaster@bwillettcomics.com

Contest?

If you vote on Top Web Comics you get an Alice Chibi

Now that the site is nice and stable I was thinking about running a contest again. I did one a few years back but there weren’t many entries. Another one might generate more interest, but I’d like to hear people’s opinions about it. Would you rather it be a fan art or fan fiction contest? Or maybe some other kind of contest. What about the subject, prizes? Leave a comment below with your ideas and if there’s enough interest I’ll start one.

As for this week’s pages. Cooper is using himself as bait so Victoria can save his sister. But is it a good idea, and will it work?
