Special 02: Rites of Passage pg.17

Birthday plans are put on hold until we figure out why there's a bunch of kids running around. Totally for the kid's safety and not to avoid dancing. No sir.

Chapter One Completed and On Sale Soon

Yay, chapter 1 is officially 100% done and chapter 2 will start next week. Last week I sent the files out to get some estimates on printing the comics and I should hear back in the next day or so. Then they get printed and will be ready for Nan Desu Kan. As soon as I get the physical copies I’ll get to posting a digital version on Comixology. I’ve been looking into the site and it might be a good place for me to distribute digital versions that will work with people’s tablets and such. I just want to get the physical versions out of the way first because they require the most supervision and work (you have no idea of all the things that can go wrong when you bring anything to print.) So yeah, I am catching up this new-fangled digital age stuff (you know, except for the whole doing web comics for a decade thing XD)

And so Chapter One ends…

This page marks the finale of Chapter 1, leaving you with a bit of a cliffhanger. Get ready for a lot of those. Gotta find a way to keep you guys reading, right? Next week I post the cover, but in the meantime I’m sending the book off to get printed in time for Nan Desu Kan. Depending on the speed of the turnaround I *might* be able to get the book to you beloved online readers before the convention, but more realistically the con will be your first opportunity to buy the book. The book is going to look amazing, so if you like the digital version, the printed version is going to look that much better.

And last chance to all you small print guys out there! I have 3 pages of ad space for the book available, this will be a really good opportunity for some of you guys to get exposure in print for a really good price. So just shoot me an email at salesATbwillettcomics.com before this Friday to make my deadline!

Closing down to the wire

Oh wow! Chapter 1 is nearly over. Next week marks the final page and then the week after that I post the cover and get the book ready for print. Chapter 2 is going to be even more exciting than chapter 1. I was a bit worried I wouldn’t get the script done in time. In fact that was part of the reason I didn’t work on Sorcerer’s Apprentice last week was because I spent the time writing the next script instead.

It’s sort of amazing that I’ve come this far. I really didn’t think I could really pull off a full color series like this. Yay me!

Winding down Chapter 1

Wow, there are only 3 more pages left in Chapter 1. It seemed a rocky start but the series is definitely moving forward. I still need to work on the script for chapter 2, but I still have a little time left before I start panicking. I’m going to start looking for a few full-page ads to stick into issue one when it goes to print, so if you’re a webcomic or small, anime/comic/horror related business (like a comic shop or importer) and want to advertise in issue 1 of Midnight Menagerie, just shoot me an email at salesATbwillettcomics.com

Technical Difficulties

I apologize for the page being so late. I had actually finished the page yesterday (and even announced that the page was up) but right in the middle of uploading the files my internet went all jerky. It’s been doing that a lot lately, unfortunately. But the page is up now so I hope you all enjoy it.

Big Artist Alley news!

Like I warned everyone last week, today’s page was a day late, but hey, better late than not at all.

I got some good news this morning in my email. It turns out I’ll be doing artist alley at Nan Desu Kan after all. I didn’t get in when I applied back in March and got put on the waitlist instead. Then this morning I get an email telling me I’m off the waitlist and am going to get my table. Very good news indeed. I’m hoping to get the print version of Midnight Menagerie for the first chapter to debut at the con in addition to a few new art prints. There are only 5 more pages in chapter 1 (which reminds me, really need to get on the script for chapter 2, I’ve really been putting that off too much…) so that’s sounding like a very realistic goal indeed.

Just under the wire.

I’ve been really busy for the past few days with real life stuff so I didn’t get the page done like I had hoped over the weekend. Instead I had to do most of the coloring today which is why the page is a tiny bit late. My work schedule is going to be a bit goofy for the next couple of weeks so if there are delays/missed updates for any of my series, please be patient.

Bargain’s a Bargain

As promised, this week I’ve posted two pages instead of the usual two. I’m glad I’m getting this far into the first chapter because I can really start chugging along with the main plot. We’ve introduced the main characters and the main conflict, and now we can really start to see some action, so stay tuned next week to see some major developments.

I know these pages were a little late to the scene. Between Comic Con and a bunch of personal stuff it’s sometimes hard to get the full color pages out. Digital artwork simply takes me more time than a traditional pen and markers. Part of the reason I’m doing this series in color is to challenge myself. I try really hard to make my updates as consistant as possible, I just hope you guys can be patient with me.

Back from Denver Comic Con

Hey everyone. Sorry for the lack of good updates these past few weeks. I’d been preoccupied with Denver Comic Con. I have a few pages about half-done but those won’t go up until next week because after getting back from the con I’m totally wiped mentally and physically. Good news is I had an amazing time. And going to cons really reinvigorates me into working, so I can’t wait for the next set of pages to go up for everyone to see.

No page this week

Hey folks.

Last week I worked my butt off and over the weekend I didn’t get much sleep, so I didn’t get this week’s page done. So no update this week. Good news is next week I’ll have two pages up so you’ll have that to look forward to. Cheers.
