Hey everyone!

Chapter 2 is really starting to heat up. I’ve been feeding you a chapter and a half of build-up, but now you get the payoff. I’m actually really proud of the inking on this page. I’ve always been a bit squeamish about using too much black on a page, but I think I got the balance right.

Don’t forget that this Saturday is Halloween Comicfest, a Free Comic Book Day in October. It’s your opportunity to go to your local comic book store, get free stuff and amazing deals and hang out with like-minded folks. I especially encourage everyone to check out some horror comics. Horror has kind of hung around in the background with the comic resurgence we’ve been having because of comic book movies, but I assure a good horror comic is just as much fun as a super hero story.

I’ll be at Hero Headquarters in Westminster entering the costume contest. My costume is a secret for now, so if you want to find out what it is before the end of the weekend you’ll have to come and check me out. I’ll also be giving away sketch cards from Midnight Menagerie to anyone who’s interested.

Sorry for the page being late this week. The cold I had bled over to this week and I didn’t get it done until this morning. But at least it’s up now, right?

This is just a quick update to remind everyone there won’t be a new page this week. With all the fun at NDK I just didn’t have the time to work. But there will be a brand spanking new page up next week, so sit tight.

Hi everyone!

Nan Desu Kan is this week and I’m really excited to see all of you. If you come to my table at Artist Alley you’ll get a special Midnight Menagerie promo card featuring either Shawn or Romero as well as a chance to check out a special preview version of print Midnight Menagerie issue one. Though I won’t have physical issues available for this con, you’ll at least get a preview of what one would look like. I’m still not hearing back from Comixology for the digital issue, but I’m hoping to hear something in the next week or so.

But because I’m going to be at NDK I won’t have time this weekend to get the page ready for next Monday, meaning don’t expect a new page this week, but after next week updates return to normal.

I’m hoping to see lots of you at the con so don’t be afraid to stop by and say ‘hi’!

Haven’t heard back yet from Comixology on whether they approve the issue or not. I’m not sure how long the process is but as soon as I hear back from them I’ll let you guys know.

Also, there is no new page today because over the weekend my endocrine system crashed. My thyroid was way out of whack so over the weekend I was struggling to stay awake let alone get much done. I think this was just the conclusion to a string of health issues that kept tripping me up. My meds have been adjusted so I should start doing better.

TL;DR. Page will be up tomorrow instead of today because of health issues. So don’t be too heartbroken that there isn’t a page yet.

Remember how I said I was working on getting a print version of Chapter 1 together? Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen after all. Based off of my estimates, I would have to charge about 7 dollars an issue in order to turn a profit, and I am fairly sure you guys aren’t willing to pay 7 dollars an issue (hey, if I’m wrong, please let me know in the comments). In addition to the high price point, it would have to be a pretty big investment on my part and it’s not an investment I’m sure I’m ready to make. At least not yet. Instead I’m going to go the digital route for a while and see how that pans out. I’ll be submitting my work to Comixology and if they sales are good, I’ll consider getting printed versions of the comic for Denver Comic Con next year instead. So if you’re really hankering to get your mitts on a physically printed version of the comic, you need to support the digital versions first. I’ll post a separate announcement when Midnight Menagerie goes up on Comixology.

In the meantime now is the time for the start of chapter 2 of Midnight Menagerie. While chapter 1 was a lot of buildup, chapter 2 is going to answer almost all of those questions, so look forward to reading these new pages.
