Special 02: Rites of Passage pg.17

Birthday plans are put on hold until we figure out why there's a bunch of kids running around. Totally for the kid's safety and not to avoid dancing. No sir.

The End of Midnight Month

Hey fans, Midnight Month is almost over and it’s been lots of fun. If you’ve contributed on Patreon you got access to all sorts of behind the scenes facts, on Tumblr I did Drawlloween (well, up until a bunch of things avalanched and I ran out of time) and tomorrow expect a special Halloween comic in addition to the art I did last week.

Also this week I was reviewed by Pulp Cultured and I added a permanent link to both my Etsy and Comixology pages so you never have to struggle to find where you can buy my stuff ever again.

Midnight Month may be at an end, but at Bwillett Comics, it’s always the right time for Halloween.

Midnight Month 2015

Hey my tender lumplings. It’s the beginning of October and everyone gearing up for one of the best holidays of the year: Halloween. But because of all the spooky glory that is my web comic, it’s also Midnight Month! That means all month we’ll be celebrating everything spooky and scary with bonus stuff from Midnight Menagerie. Bonus comics, bonus art and lots of behind the scenes actions.

First off, Midnight Menagerie issue #5 is now available from Comixology. Even if you’ve read chapter 5 already I strongly suggest you purchase it because the Comixology version contains a special bonus comic called The Life and Times of Gary the Tentacle Monster. The comic isn’t available online so the only way to read it is to get the issue. Everyone who’s read it has loved it, so I assure you it’s a purchase worth making.

Second of all, I’m doing Drawlloween on Tumblr. Like Inktober, it’s one of those month-long theme challenges. In addition to the theme provided by the challenge, I’m also incorporating characters from Midnight Menagerie into the art. So if you want to see all the cool drawings, remember to follow me on Tumblr.

Lastly, if you are a Patreon member, starting next week, regardless of level, you will have access to a bunch of info about Midnight Menagerie and some plans I have for the series, as well as many of the influences behind my stories. For levels starting at a dollar a month, this a great way to find out about all the different Easter eggs the series has. Plus your support goes directly back into the comic. So if you aren’t supporting already, now’s a great time to start.

Chapter 6 Begins!

Hey folks! With no new pages last week because of my earlier convention, we return this week not only with a new page, but the start of the next chapter! Chapter 6 will be the last part of the Mad Dog arc, which introduces main character Rob and explains the rift between Rob and Romero. The last chapter mostly focused on what happened with Rob’s life, but this chapter will focus mostly on Romero, starting with a bit of a flashback. The bigger question is, is there any way for these two to get along? Just keep reading and find out.

NDK Reminder

Hey Midnight fans. Just a reminder that this weekend I’ll be at Nan Desu Kan, the Denver area anime convention. There will be a new page tomorrow* (Actually it’s cover art, not a page) but just a reminder because of the con, there will be new page *next* week. Next new page will be on September 18th when we start chapter 6. In the meantime, hope to see a bunch of you at NDK!

End of Mad Dog prt.3

This week marks the end chapter 5, it’ll be a couple of weeks until chapter 6 starts up because next week I’m posting the cover, and the week after will be a scrub week because I’ve got NDK next weekend and won’t be able to work on any new pages. Sorry for making you guys wait, but I promise it’ll be worth it because the next chapter will be Mad Dog prt.4, which is the end of the arc. Original the arc was supposed to be 3 chapters, but decided to split the part with Romero and Rob’s side of the story in half in order to give them enough room. But some interesting stuff happens in chapter 6, so don’t worry, I’m not just stretching it out for the heck of it.

For the Comixology version of the chapter, I’ll be including a special 3 page bonus story called The Life and Times of Gary the Tentacle Monster, which I hope you guys will check out and enjoy. In the meantime, have a good week.

And as always, you can actually get early access to all the stuff from Midnight Menagerie and help me personally by contributing as a patron on Patreon.

NDK Artist Alley

Hey folks, there hadn’t been much news to announce except the regularly scheduled page updates, but I want to give everyone the heads up that I’ll be at the Artist Alley for Nan Desu Kan, September 4th-6th. We don’t have official booth numbers but it’s a pretty easy area to navigate and you can find me by looking for my infamous purple duck banner. I’ll be having art prints and paper crafts as well as physical copies of Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Midnight Menagerie. Even if you don’t buy anything stop by and say hi. I love meeting my fans <3

Bwillett Comics on Patreon

Bwillett Comics is finally on Patreon. I’ve been talking about it the past few weeks and now the campaign is live. In case you are wondering, Patreon is like a long-term Kickstarter account. Instead of supporting a single project (like just one book getting printed) you are supporting the project runner and *all* my projects. Just like Kickstarter, there is a reward tier for donating, where the more you support, the cooler stuff you get. But don’t freak out if you are broke, because my reward tiers start out at just a dollar a month. By donating, you make sure that Bwillett Comics continues and that I don’t have to worry about anything like lack of supplies (which is why Sorcerer’s Apprentice isn’t updating), or lack of internet service. You can cancel your subscriptions at any time, and change the amount you want to donate, but by donating ANYTHING, it means all my fans benefit.

Happy Independence Day from Midnight!

Hey good folks. Cananda was was Wednesday and this weekend is the 4th of July for the good ol’ USA. Remember to not drink and drive, wear lots of sunblock, and for the love of God, don’t shoot off fireworks if it’s illegal in your neighborhood. Nothing spells ‘patriotism’ like breaking your country’s laws *eyeroll* Otherwise ave fun and stay safe. Meanwhile, I’ll be working on next week’s new page and figuring out more Patreon stuff.

Possible Patreon

Hello my nocturnal lovelies. If you’ve been following Deviant Art and Twitter I’ve been kicking around the idea of a Patreon account to help support the site and my living and wondering what y’all thought about it. If you aren’t familiar with Patreon, it’s sorta like Kickstarter, but instead of funding a single project, you are paying an ongoing subscription to help support an ongoing project. And in exchange for these moneys you get access to cool bonus stuff. I’ve gotten feedback from a few people, but I want to hear a few more opinions before I invest the time and energy into it. So far my pricing structure looks like this:

$5 a month– early access to all pages (including Sorcerer’s Apprentice once that goes back up)
$10 a month– early access plus bonus commentary (including pointing out all the hidden references, research behind the story, stuff that got cut out.)
$25 a month– The other stuff plus monthly livestream to watch me work and ask me questions
$50 a month– Digital softshade commission of a single character (normally a $65 value!)
$100 a month– Private art and storytelling lessons where I can help you work out all your art and writing problems
$500 a month– One of the original pages from either Midnight Menagerie or Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Of course, this is just an outline and not anything final. If you have any additional ideas or thoughts about the proposal, by all means, comment!

100 Pages of Madness

Special milestone this week, my wonderful group of freaks! Today marks the 100th page of Midnight Menagerie. With everything that’s been happening the past couple of years I’m very proud of myself I’ve managed to produce this much work. I hope you all continue to read for the next hundred pages and the next…

Nothing much to report besides that but I’ll keep you posted with any new developments. And don’t forget to buy full issues on Comixology!
