I'm not a big fan of the designs for the starters, but I like the other plans they have, like the human characters being teens as opposed to 10-year-old-kids, a rumored timed-combat system, actual battle animations and a little more interactivity in the towns. But yeah, as for the elite four in the GBA games... you're not missing much. Not that they're bad, just that they're friggen easy. I seriously plowed through them on my first try.
