Gamer Diary: Pokemon Platinum Prt. 4

First order of business: Hey spammers, every comment has to be approved before it's posted, thus you can put as many comments as you want, but none of them are going to show up 'cause I'm going to delete them.

Alrighty, back to Pokemon. Just when I think I'm out they keep pulling me back in. I'm totally back into Pokemon fangirl mode, which I hadn't been in since 2003 when I got so disappointed with Ruby/Saphire and then the animated series dumped majorly in quality as well. Now I've been playing all the time (Queen of Games, what's Queen of Games?) checking out a bunch of fan sites and yesterday I found and bought a bunch of Pokemon manga in Goodwill.

Okay, 7 badges and 80 pokemon. I'm really impressed with the graphics. That route on the way to Snowpoint city is really like going through real snow. Including the sinking randomly into spots that are hard to get out of. Also, Team Galatic surprises of how vicious they are. Team Magma and Aqua were pretty weak, and Team Rocket actually was pretty evil, with attacking Slowpokes and creating Mewtwo, but Galactic is definitely the worst villain set so far, they are the most like actual terrorists. They use bombs, do experiments on pokemon, very disturbing.

So what do I hate about Pokemon Platinum? The GTS, the global trading system. The idea is cool, that you can trade with anyone in the world. But people are stupid, if you look for common pokemon that don't appear in your game, like Glameow and Stunky, people want things like level 100 Shamins and Mews. It's ridiculous.

*Squee* BB comics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Batman Beyond Mini Series

BB cover

I'm so exited! Batman Beyond was one of my top favorite Western cartoons growing up. I always fought with my dad to watch this series because whenever it came on his wife wanted to do chores. I the whole series (*still* need to get Joker Returns *headdesk*) and a boatload of the comics. The comics were *okay* some where better than others, but it didn't have the same grittiness the show had. I think the artist made Terry a bit too bulky, as Terry was a slim teen and that's how I liked him (I still can't find a decent Terry action figure *whimper*) I think I may actually end up reading them.

Ha ha Karma!

Full Article Here

NEW YORK—4Kids Entertainment saw its losses increase in 2009’s fourth quarter and full year, hurt by charges related to its Chaotic property, but believes cost cuts and new properties can help it rebuild in 2010.

Net revenue for the three months ended Dec. 31, 2009, totaled $17.0 million, up from $12.8 million in the same period in 2008. Fourth quarter revenue included $9.8 million that the company received as part of its agreement to terminate its right to serve as the merchandise licensing agent for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles property (TMNT).

It's no wonder 4kids has been losing so much money. They've been showing the same properties for the last decade, the new properties they get suck beyond reason and the properties that aren't bad-to-good get butchered. I get that the US has certain standards in regards to content for children's programming, but a lot of the edits they make are completely unnecessary. Or they get properties that really shouldn't be for kids anyway *coughYugiOhcough* But things like Chaotic and Go Go Riki are just plain *bad*-- nonexistent plots, horrible animation and the same pool of 17 actors (I'm looking at you, Dan Green and Eric Stuart.)

Huntik is *okay*, but everything else is terrible. I would not be sorry at all if 4Kids went out of business.

Gamer Diary: Pokemon Platinum prt 3

Been playing tons more Pokemon, to a point where I am almost ignoring school stuff (almost XD). So far I've gotten four badges and about 67 pokemon and I am a very happy fishy, because I now have a Houndoom, my absolute favorite pokemon (houdour/houndoom). I've also gotten a Jirachi and Pichu from Nintendo events and a Spiritomb with the help of a friend from school. I am really, really enjoying the game, as it's probably the most challenging Pokemon game I've played.

The gym leaders are hard, Gardenia, not so much, but even the first gym had fairly high level pokemon with some killer moves. I'm currently fighting against the water gym leader in Pastoria (Mexican wrestler FTW!)and getting the floor wiped with me. That Gyrados is *insane*, it just has to use Waterfall twice and my strongest electric type is toast. I have a lvl 33 Luxray and the thing can't even make a dent.

It's not just the gym leaders, it's also catching the pokemon. In Red/Blue the legendaries were pretty easy to get: they were standing right there, and if you hucked enough ultraballs (or did the infinite masterball cheat like smart people did) voila, you got the legendaries. The toughest pokemon to get was probably Porygon, because you have to have all those game coins to get one. Then in Gold/Silver they upped the ante because you had to chase the suckers down and track some items. Ruby/Sapphire was already insane in trying to track down the Regis, and you had to chase Latios/Latias.

But in Platinum it's just stupid. Spiritomb requires talking to 32 people underground, the pixies, Giritina, Dialga, the legendary birds *headdesk* The amount you have to do is just mind numbing.

Still, this game is amazing.

NO NO NO

Something you need to know about me is that I love old television shows and movies. Pretty much all my favorite actors are dead. One exception is James Garner. He was in two of my favorite shows and a lot of my favorite movies. The first of my favorite shows is Maverick. In fact, the main character played by Garner is a huge influence on Neferi's personality. The second, of course, is The Rockford Files

And NBC is remaking it.

No, no. NO!

Why, NBC, why do you have go and remake it? Didn't Bionic Woman teach you anything? Are you really that out of ideas? I am really unhappy about this. I don't think a private detective living on a beach in a trailer would even work out in the 21st century, and any changes would stop it from being Rockford. Who is going to replace Gandi? He was played by Isaac Hayes for crying out loud! What about Rocky? Or Angel? Or Beth? The only possible way for me to like this show is if James Garner played Rocky, then I'd give it a chance. Because otherwise I am going to boycott this thing.
