Well this is something interesting from Mattel.
After losing out to the tween market because of things like Bratz, Moxie Girlz and LIV dolls, the company behind Barbies has come out with a new, tween/teen centric franchise called Monster High.
Follow up:
Totally unrelated to the 80's horror movie of the same name, it seems to take advantage of the whole werewolves-and-vampires-are-totally in now trend and is about the children of famous monsters (such as the wolfman and Dracula) going to High School. There are talks about a live action movie (which worries me a bit) and there is already a website up with all the information about the series and the characters.
The media related to it is probably going to be quite lame, but the dolls seem really cute. The picture only show the prototypes (images from Mattel's site are always prototypes and don't necessarily reflect how the doll really looks like) so I can't say for sure until I see the dolls up close. The Frakenstein and Wolfgirl are cute, and Ghost girl too. Mummygirl and Gorgon boy are a bit 'meh' and I'm a little sick of vampires. Still, I might pick some of these up
