Just read this article on Yahoo about a new game called Epic Mickey. Personally I think it's one of the silliest, worst researched articles I've ever read. The gist of it says that the Wii game 'Epic Mickey' will be the first game to bring an edgier, darker Mickey Mouse to gaming. One who will actually attack and fight people (and by people I mean slightly menacing cartoon characters).
Follow up:
Not only will this not be the first game to have Mickey Mouse as an ass-kicking protagonist/antihero, it won't even be the first one this decade. While it is true that Mickey has been a moral, do-gooder character since the late 30s, in games he has always played a slightly brutal role.
This List from Wikipedia lists all the games Disney has released since pretty much the beginning of gamedom and games like Mickey Mania and Disney's Magic Quest required a lot of fighting (and with my reflexes a lot of Mickey dying...)
And this completely ignoring what is arguably one of the greatest franchises in games, ever: Kingdom Hearts.
I admit, I'm extremely biased (biased reporting on the internet? Le Gasp!) since Kingdom Hearts is one of my favorite games of all time. As I've said before I started playing it for the Disney Characters, not the Square ones. While Mickey as king had a negligible role in Kingdom Hearts I, he had a HUGE role in II, Chain of Memories and (I'm assuming 358/2--haven't gotten there yet). Where he fought with essentially a sword aka the Keyblade. He didn't just fight Heartless, but beings who looked human too. He helped in the fight against Xaladin and takes on Xemnas by himself. Something that takes Sora, Goofy, Donald and Riku to do in the end.
So while Epic Mickey (stupid name) doesn't sound like a bad game, you'll have to say I'm unimpressed when all he's got to fight with is a paintbrush and turpentine and the main villain is Malificient (whom Riku and Sora wiped the floor with and was not even in the same ballpark as Xemnas, Ansem or even Axel in COM).

No, Mickey's never been brooding and edgy before...
Man I hate morons...
