Made a lot of progress last night. None of my Chocobos yet are fast enough to win S class, but I did beat Joe and Teioh, so that's a small victory. It looked like I was gonna win, but then this red bird came out of no where and zoomed past me. I was very WTF?!! I was in the lead for 99% of the race and still had plenty of stamina and then BAM red bird. So thus that means more Chocobo breeding and more spending money on greens. Sadly, I was out of Gil so I just moved on to the next part of the game, looking for the Key of the Ancients in the Sub.
I actually found it right away (when in reality I was looking for the sunken sub and the crashed Gelnika, yay random luck). I also found Lucrecia's cave and dammit, the more I play this game the more Vincent becomes awesome in my eyes, even in little pixelly chibis. It is very odd when Vincent laughs, quite disturbing frankly, but even for his more depressing comments he still manages to come across as a pretty good guy.
Using the sub I keep getting nearly crashing into Emerald Weapon. That thing seems out for my blood! The thing about Emerald Weapon is the fact that it and Ruby Weapon are legendarily hard to beat, even when you're level 99 with 9999 life points and all the master materia. So when only one of your chars is about level 60 you're pretty much shark bait. It seems every single time I dived, there was Emerald. I surface, go forward to the other side of the continent, dive again, and there's Emerald again. I swear, that thing is stalking me. It's scary when you think you're safe and all of a sudden it swims toward you.
At least I finally made it to the Gelnika and the creatures in there are scary enough. At least I solved my Gil problem...
