This week has been pretty busy despite the fact I haven't left the house once. I am finishing off a bunch of a projects that have been on hold for months. A lot of stuff I've found is cool, a lot of it has annoyed me to no end
Epic FAIL! Comcast. On Wednesday I lost my internet connection after a disagreement with my internet provider, Comcast. They refused to negociate the price for my internet and when I canceled 4 days before the new billing cycle they still stuck me with a 55 dollar bill! Also, they told me that they would disconnect on Thursday, but instead they came on Wednesday and instead of knocking they just went into my backyard. This is a problem because I have dogs. At best they would have just mauled the guy, but at worst because the guy left the gate open they could have run away! It was very unprofessional. Not only that I have to use the laptop for my internet. Which sucks because I hate laptops (for various reasons) and the WiFi doesn't work on the basement. So to update my comics I have to bounce around between my computers to scan, tone and upload. It takes forever and it's a real nuisance.
Epic WIN! Project YGO. Project YGO is this really cool group of people on YouTube who have redubbed Yugi-Oh. Fandubs often get looked at sceptically, but these guys are extremely good. It's interesting how they mixed some of the style and mannerisms from the 4kids dub, but improved the quality with the original script. And LittleKuriboh from Yugi-Oh: The Abridged Series is involved too. I can't wait for the next episode.
Epic FAIL! Digital TV. Even though there have been warnings for months, I will be losing my TV reception today. This isn't out of laziness. I was seriously considering getting a convertor box, but then when I went into investigating it, I saw how much of a scam it was. The coupons only cover 40 bucks, and when I started to look into convertor boxes, it turns out the '40-70 buck' range was a scam. I couldn't find a single convertor under 55 (when you calculate things like shipping and such) and then the more I thought about it the more I realized, why would I want to convert to Digital TV. In the past two years I have reduced my television consumption to 4 or 5 things: Reaper, Big Bang Theory, The News, Jeopardy and some random stuff on PBS. I used to watch a ton of things: Two and a Half Men, Law and Order, Desperate Housewives, cartoons on Saturday. But slowly by slowly all the shows I used to watch, as I've whined in other blogs, have either gotten canceled or turned to trash. Then Reaper got canceled off of the CW. So now the only show left is Big Bang Theory. So I couldn't justify spending that much money to watch 1 show, especially since the DVD sets would only be 20 bucks or so. From now on I'll get all the info I need online, and just stick to DVDs and the ol' PS2.
Epic WIN! Vincent Doll near completion. About a year or so ago I started making a doll of my beloved gun slinging one armed monster transforming hottie, Vincent Valentine. But alas, when I started making him I didn't have all the supplies I needed. First I didn't have the felt to make his claw arm, and then I didn't have the black fabric to make his clothing. So for a good year he was armless, headless and naked. But in the past week I finally found the fabric I needed and now all I need to do is make Vincent's cape and add a few more details and then he shall be done. I've very excited.
Until next week!
