You might be wondering why I haven't updated in a while and mostly that has to do with absolutely nothing happening. Since school got out I've mostly been having the same routine. Get up, take care of some minor chore, go on the compute for a few hours and spend the rest of the day working on my comics. Part of that is because I'm a workaholic. The other is because I'm broke and there is really nothing to do near my house. My buss pass is expired and a ride costs 2 bucks (do the previous Epic Fail RTD rants make a lot of sense now?) And there is nothing in walking distance. The two closest libraries are miles away as are the electronic and book stores.
In the meantime some minor things have happened. My dad canceled my insurance because apparently he's going to law school and next week my computer's internet is going to get cut off because my 30 dollar a month deal expired and the company wasn't willing to lower the price. So from now on I have to transfer between my computer and my laptop. That's always tedious.
But enough whining. In the past week my friend Twinstar got me hooked onto this series called Kuroshitsuji (translation: Black Butler) and oh my gawd is that series completely boss. I haven't finished it yet but it's just so cool. For those not familiar, it's about Ciel Phantomhive, the young lord of his estate and his butler, Sebastian. Ciel had his life taken away when his family was slaughtered, his mansion burned down and he himself was tortured. He entered into a contract with Sebastian, in order to find the people who destroyed his life and punish them. He also acts as the Queen's Guard Dog, investigating incidents that may embarrass the Queen, and little by little he unravels who destroyed him and why. There is quite a bit of implied (and not so implied) Shonen Ai, but there seems to be an equal amount of Fan Service so I think it shouldn't bother too many people.
The animation is beautiful, the music is great and the characters, omg the characters!
All of them are really great. Sebastian is boss awesome, the servants are so cute and there's this one character Pluto, who is steadily becoming my favorite. I'm pretty sure the international definition for awesome is a giant fire breathing demon dog who will spontaneously turn into a naked man and glomp the butler. The voice acting isn't bad either, though Maylin sounds like Moaning Myrtle from the Harry Potter movies.
The series isn't perfect, the reveal of Ciel's past is painfully slow. I'm already on the 15th episode, and we barely know any more than from the first few episodes. We also know very little about the back stories of the characters. We get a little backstory about Finnian, but that's about it. Otherwise it's an extremely good so far. I'll let you guys know if I like the ending.
