Yesterday was my final presentation for Advanced Industrial Design 1 and I think it went pretty well. Before my presentation I was so nervous I thought I'd be sick, but once I was on stage I sounded like I knew what I was doing. Most of the presentations were pretty good, though during the last presentation a lot of us sorta lost it because my bud Jeff did a flash presentation and his design required these little stimulators on people's clothing to work--and at one point it just sorta looked wrong
. The guy said that my design might be a little too specialized--but it still may have a market if he talks to the marketing people. So that means I still have a chance at winning.
Then in the evening was the design show. I was disappointed and a little annoyed to learn the Kandissi couch didn't make it in. Well, there's always next year. I still had a lot of fun though.
Follow up:
The guy from my Autocad class brought in his winning soapbox car. And it is as cool in person as it looks:

This is a prosthetic my friend's boyfriend Jacob made. His brother is missing a leg and he essentially spent every year in the department building a brand new version. It's his goal to make a really good one:

There were quite a few good designs, but I decided not to take photos of everything. There was lots of food and I talked with people, which is a good step for me because I normally am suuuper shy in social situations, which is why I typically avoid them. But I actually was mingling, and I even helped out with the ballots for best in show and the raffle. In addition there was live music provided by my Autocad teacher and his son:

I swear, that guy can do anything. Before being an Industrial Designer he was an Engineer, he's also the leader of the Squash club and turns out he's a really good Jazz pianist. Go Figure.
He still isn't as active as the other super robo teacher Ted, but he's not far off.
I had to leave during the presentation because otherwise I wouldn't get home until after 10, but I'm definitely going again next year.
And in other news I have a new adversary, there is this woodpecker who has been mocking me by banging on the metal chimney and vents on my house at 6 in the morning. So I have been trying to throw pine cones at it to get it to leave. I swear, it just sits there looking at me as I'm hucking stuff at it, shaking its head. This means war.
