Wow, this has been an especially busy week for me. As the semester begins to wind down absolutely everything starts getting due so I have been running around trying to get things done. However, not very successfully, and there is a distinct possibility that SA and QoG may get the ol' Hiatus in the next couple of weeks. I really hate to do that, but what else can you do?

Legendary FAIL Colorado Legislature. Normally I avoid getting political in my blogs, but as this is a bi-partisan problem, I'm going to mega-rant. Okay, Colorado is having a budget shortfall like a lot of states and they have been figuring out what to cut in order to balance themselves out. Then on April first they made their decision: they were going to cut 300 million dollars from Higher Education, which essentially guarantees school closures and tuition spikes for public funded colleges and universities--like the one I go to. This means two semesters from finally getting my BS diploma (no really, it's a Bachelor of Sciences) I might not be able to afford going to school. I really on Federal Aid, and they only cover a certain amount per semester. Normally that amount does cover tuition and supplies, but with the proposed tuition hike it may not cover it this time, because in addition to cutting school funding the state is also getting rid of their grants and scholarship programs as well. But at the same time, the state is getting 480 million dollars for k-12 education from the economic stimulus bill. Here's what I don't get: why bother funding k-12 if there is no godly way for them to get into college anyway? Colorado already spent the least on HigherEd and everyone is complaining that the preschool is getting cut but only actual college students are making a peep about this higher ed thing. And the state is also getting 100 million for the black hole known as FastTracks--the program intended to build a train line that is grossly behind schedule and over budget. The whole thing infuriates me.

EDIT: in an emergency session of the legislation they figured out a way not to make the cuts. Yay!!!!

Epic WIN Legend of Zelda. My mom found an original copy of the original NES Legend of Zelda game. I cannot wait to play it, but I have to because I need to A.find my NES B. hook up my NES and C. actually find time to play my games.

Epic WIN Ducky. In addition to the LoZ game my mom also found this completely cute animatronic toy ducky from Furreal Friends. I squee whenever I play with it.

Meh... Reaper. I was not happy with this week's episode. There were some funny bits but overall it was pretty lame. Why God Why? Zac Effron in an Anime Movie. There have been talks of putting him into a Full Metal Panic! movie as Sousuke. Please God no. First Dragon Ball, then Cowboy Bebop, now this, Anime movies have a history of not being at all good, Hollywood and the US has a lot of misconceptions about anime (much like they did for a long time of Comic books) so they never get the tone right.

Epic FAIL Squirrel Chomp. I got some peanuts so I wanted to feed the squirrels on campus. When I was giving them out one of the ungrateful little rats bit me. He didn't do it hard and I'm sure it was an accident, but I still didn't appreciate it.

Epic WIN! Home Shopping Network. When I am bored I sometimes watch HSN to make fun of the ugly jewelry or whatever. There was a particularly bad line of jewelry on when suddenly they showed this little beauty:

I promise you, this is real. When I saw it I fell over laughing.

Epic FAIL Human Factors. This class always stinks and this week we had another one of the evil brain breaking tests. And if that wasn't enough people were being all mean to me because I set the curve last time by only missing 3 questions. I know most of the stuff they were saying was a joke (like the stuff about disposing of my body in a pig farm...) it still wasn't very nice. I work hard to get the grades I do, I started studying during Spring Break!

Epic FAIL! Drunk Dudes. I was reading the paper at the bus stop when I guy walks up to me. He says something to me, I go 'huh?' 'cause I couldn't understand him, and he grabs my shoulder! You have to understand I HATE being touched so I really freaked out. Luckily a security officer was right there and he got the drunk guy away from me.

Epic WIN! Yugi-Oh: The Abridged Series. I finally got a chance to watch it, and yes, it is just as funny as everyone else says it is.

Kaiba: I'm here for your card and I won't take 'no' for an answer.

Teh DRAMA of the Week The lady with the ILVTOFU license plate. This vegan lady wanted a vanity plate that would say I love Tofu, but based on the letter combination it looks like it can say...well, something else so the DMV denied her request and it's been all over the news. The DMV was very reasonable and explained letter combos that can be viewed as obscene aren't allowed and suggested a plate that says ILUVSOY instead. But she still dragged it out in the media....
