The strangest things.

I hope everyone's weekend was good, mine was uneventful, as usual. On Saturday a bunch of people in my department participated in the Red Bull Soapbox race. I wasn't able to go (but from what I hear traffic and crowds were horrible!)

Even though I couldn't go I still got to see the car. It was featured on the news, and I'm not surprised, it was amazing: Check out his car, it is seriously cool

Monday was interesting.

I seriously need to get a new scanner. Running down 10 miles to use the scanner at school is annoying. The one I have no longer scans at the resolution I need, but I haven't found one I want to buy yet. And no, I don't have any friends/neighbors/hostages that I can use theirs. Everyone I know lives at least 15 miles south of me. Stopped by Goodwill on the way home--but I'm getting really annoyed with the management there. They are supposed to have prices listed, but they make them up as they go along. One day tapes are 4 for a dollar, the next they are 99 cents each. Good thing I haven't found any anime lately or this blog would turn into a mega-rant. But I didn't go home empty handed. When I was walking home from the voting place (my state=early voting) I found a really nice table in someone's trash. It wasn't some cheap plywood thing about to fall apart, it was mostly solid stock construction with a nice veneer, and it only had a couple of scratches.

People throw out the strangest things. That table must have been at least 100 bucks new, and they could have sold it on Craiglist or a garage sale for at least 20. It's a small wonder why some people complain they never have money: they always waste opportunities to get a little extra cash. And it would have been a waste in a landfill, wood takes actually a long time to rot completely so that table would take at least 30 years to degrade.

If you people out there are serious about saving the earth or whatever, don't waste time worrying about whether or not you use plastic or paper garbage bags: look around at the stuff you have and really judge what can be thrown away. Freecycle, dumpster dive and reuse, you never know what kind of cool stuff you can come across.

Welcome to Nerdvana!

This blog is all about me, Bwillett, and the struggles of the daily life of a struggling comic artist and college student. In addition to being an artist and student, I also happen to be an comic book nerd, gaming freak and hardcore Otaku. The title is a reference from the Big Bang Theory, one of my favorite shows.
