Master of Mosquiton

Sorry I haven't updated SA this week, I've been out of the house for most of the week. I'll give in vivid detail the stuff I've had to go through in my weekly Epic WIN/FAIL blog. Yesterday I was in the old Goodwill with their typical bipolar pricing and found that the price de jour for tapes was 4/dollar again, which worked out really well since I got The Cat from Outer Space, the Disney version of 20,000 under the Sea, a funky movie with Chris Farley called Almost Heroes and a previously unheard of to me anime called Master of Mosquiton the Vampire. Watched the Chris Farley movie last night, it wasn't incredibly funny, more weird than anything, but it had a few good sight gags and historical jokes but what really turned out to be the winner was MoM.

Follow up:

It was one of the cutest series I've ever seen! The characters and their relationships were adorable and it made me sad that I could only find the first volume.

Innaho is a rich descendant of a witch clan who wants to find the 'O-Part', a magical device that promises to give its user immortality. Innaho wants this part more than anything, because the last thing she wants is to grow old and wrinkly. But because of the danger such a quest entails, she goes to Transylvania to revive the part-human vampire, Mosquiton to help her on her journey. She does so and becomes his master, and the two discover that they actually really like each other, and decide to become a couple. Innaho runs a clock shop in Shanghai with Mosquiton and his two spirit servants Hono'o and Yuki, two adorable characters who look (and act) like little kids until they have to battle. Suddenly, a Pyramid rises up in the middle of London, and thinking that the O-part is there, Innaho convinces Mosquiton to come with her to try to get it, but their journey won't be easy because a rival group seems after the O-part as well.

The animation in the first episode is a little rough, but the art is really nice and reminds me of Slayers and Lost Universe. The opening music is pretty boring, but the closing song isn't bad. The English voice acting isn't too bad though Innaho is a little screechy (which works for her since she is so annoying) but the rest of the cast is very well chosen, Yuki and Hono'o have cute kid voices as children and very elegant adult voices in battle and the guardian of the Star Lords has kind of a nifty accent going on. The plot is very intriguing, but the characters are darling!

Mosquiton isn't quite a bishi, but his devotion, complements and 'yes-dear' approach to Innaho are really sweet. He reminds me a lot of Neferi in the fact that he's a total wuss (even though he's a vampire) but when Innaho is in trouble he gets the strength to snap some necks and take some names. Yuki and Hono'o are cute and funny how they call Innaho 'mama' all the time even though they aren't entirely sold on the idea that she's the master of their master, they get some pretty good lines. Innaho is very self-centered and greedy, but does obviously care about Mosquiton. The series has a very funny gag involving stakes through the heart, but I won't spoil that for you. There is some minor fan service and some suggestive dialog, but I've seen worse in most Shoujo series. I'm totally going to look for the rest of the series. It's pretty short since it's only 6 episodes, but it appears there is a second 26 episode version of the show that changes up the plot but not the character relationships.

Welcome to Nerdvana!

This blog is all about me, Bwillett, and the struggles of the daily life of a struggling comic artist and college student. In addition to being an artist and student, I also happen to be an comic book nerd, gaming freak and hardcore Otaku. The title is a reference from the Big Bang Theory, one of my favorite shows.
