I'm a little bummed at the moment. I was supposed to do this Industrial Design Lock-in where we'd stay at school overnight and create a project from start to finish. I really wanted to do it, but then last night I didn't sleep. At all. Actually a common problem I have but why oh why did it have to happen last night? Now I have no energy at all and won't be able to work (when I'm tired my drawings turn into that of a 6-year-old, seriously). I tried taking a nap, but that failed utterly.
But today hasn't been a complete disaster. AutoCAD got out early and so I was able to stop by Goodwill on the way home and I found some cool stuff. Picked up a bunch of tapes: Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl, X-Men tape, Creators Choice v.2, The Making of Star Wars and Waking Ned Divine. I also found a Star Wars graphic novel from 1983, turns out the script was written by Stan Lee. Seriously, what hasn't that guy done?
Speaking of good ol' Stan I hadn't seen the 90's version of X-Men since, well, the 90s. I wasn't that fond of it as a kid, but I decided to buy the tape since it was only a quarter. A lot of people like to rag on X-Men: Evolution, but I have no idea why. Evolution had better scripts, better animation (seriously, X-Men's neon colors kill my eyes, waaaay too much bright yellow) and waaay better voice acting. When Storm was yelling or screaming she sounded like she was doing a high school play and she couldn't quite make up her mind between a British Accent and a Western African one. The one thing I'll give X-Men is it was way more serious in it's attempt to show how much mutants were prosecuted, whereas Evolution was more about typical high school problems through the filter of kids who had superpowers. It didn't even show that the government was a threat until the final season, and even then they kind of skirted the issue. I still like Evolution better, and you can't get me to change my mind.
